Williams Softball Sweeps Amherst

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Juniors Rebecca Duncan and Kirstin Mapes tossed back-to-back shutouts in a 2-0, 5-0 sweep of rival Amherst as the Ephs clinched the NESCAC West Division title and extended their win streak to 15 games on Cole Field on Sunday.
 
Williams is back in action Wednesday for a home doubleheader against Smith College beginning at 4 p.m.
 
Duncan and Mapes combined to allow the Mammoths (16-10, 3-6) just four hits over 14 innings. 
 
Women's Golf
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Williams' Joanna Kim and Stella Woo tied for third place indiviually to lead the Ephs to a team victory at the Vassar College Invitational over the weekend.
 
Kim finished with consistent scores of 74 and 76 to finish at 6-over par, three strokes behind winner Danielle Bambola of SUNY-Cortland. Woo, who started off Saturday with a field-leading round of even-par 72, also finished at 6-over for the tourney.
 
As a team, Williams finished six strokes ahead of runner-up New York University in a 12-team field that also included NESCAC rivals Middlebury and Amherst.
 
Williams goes to Amherst next weekend for the Jack Leaman Invitational.
 
Men's Golf
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Williams' Sam Goldenring carded a 5-under round of 66 on Sunday to finish tied for first at the Williams Spring Invitational at Taconic Golf Club.
 
His 3-under for the two-day event helped the Ephs finish second in a nine-team field, one stroke behind Trinity.
