The first 3rd Thursday of 2019 will celebrate youth, with performances by
the Berkshire Pulse youth drummers led by Aimee Gelinas w/guest dancers,
the Breffny Irish Dancers, Youth Alive, the Reid Middle School Orchestra, the Taconic Guitar Ensemble, Kids 4 Harmony, Berkshire Theatre Group and Rock On!
Berkshire Yoga Dance and Fitness will be leading a FREE Zumba class at 6:30 p.m. in Park Square.
And the Jacob's Pillow Dance Zone will feature a 3rd Thursday All Styles Dance Battle. The battle is free to enter and open to participants of all ages, abilities and styles. DJ BFG will spin tracks live and community judges will decide who will be crowned the winner, for a $250 cash prize. 5-.8 p.m.

The Purple Xperience is a 5-piece Prince tribute band led by Marshall Charloff and hailing from the hometown of Prince himself: Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band embodies the image, intensity and sound of The Purple One, with non-stop energy and changing scenery. They'll perform all of your favorite Prince hits, from "Little Red Corvette" and "Purple Rain" to "1999" and more. 8 p.m. $25/$35/$45. |

Berkshire Theatre Group seeks child actors who are currently in kindergarten through 6th grade for Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka KIDS. The roles are open to members of the Berkshire community and to actors of all ethnicities. Auditions will take place Monday and Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at The Colonial Theatre. The morning begins with a one-mile kids run at 8 a.m. The 42nd Women's Running Race begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Everyone Can Run 5K at 9:45. The race is FREE, and all money raised from the sale of race shirts ($20 each) goes directly to the Elizabeth Freeman Center. Everyone who buys a shirt is invited to enter a raffle to win restaurant gift cards. Berkshire Community College.

Join artist Janet Schwartz at Berkshire Athenaeum for a hands-on workshop designed for aspiring artists who want to learn a technique that will help "jump-start" their creativity. Although geared toward individuals with minimal art background, experienced artists have also benefited from this unique program. The concepts and strategies taught can be applied to any art medium. 6 p.m.

Pittsfield High School's Proteus Theatre Group presents the hit 1966 show Cabaret The Musical. Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it focuses on the nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, and revolves around American writer Cliff and his relationship with English performer Sally. A sub-plot involves the doomed romance between German boarding house owner Fräulein Schneider and her suitor Herr Schultz, a Jewish fruit vendor.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) presents The Constitution Under Stress at the Berkshire Museum. Tom Gerety is a Collegiate Professor of law and humanities at New York University. He came to NYU in 2003 to head its Brennan Center for Justice. Prior to that, he served as President of Amherst College from 1994-2003 and of Trinity College from 1989-1994. As a law professor he taught and wrote on constitutional law and political philosophy, with a special emphasis on the First Amendment freedoms of speech, privacy and conscience. He wrote and narrated the PBS series "Visions of the Constitution" and is the author of the book of essays The Freshman Who Hated Socrates. 3 p.m. $10/$15.

Be The Seen will be performing a live, improvised score to the classic animated tale Fantastic Planet, right after 3rd Thursday events wrap up. The film follows the relationship between the small human-like Oms and their larger blue-skinned oppressors, the Draags, who rule the planet of Ygam. While the Draags have long kept Oms as illiterate pets, this hierarchy shifts after an Om boy becomes educated. This leads to an Om rebellion, which weakens Draag control. Will the Oms and the Draags find a way to coexist? Or will they destroy each other?

Artscape invites you to apply to a juried art auction to benefit public art in Pittsfield. Up to three pieces will be accepted in all media including fine art, photography, jewelry, ceramics, etc. Artists may choose to submit as a donation or receive 30% of the proceeds. Artists will receive promotion in the Berkshires as well as free entry to the event.
