WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Babe Ruth Baseball 15-year-old All-Stars Sunday saw their season come to an end with a 15-2 loss to Keene, N.H., in the New England Regional at Bullens Field.

The New Hampshire state champions pounded out 12 hits and put the game away with an eight-run sixth inning, handing Pittsfield its third loss in three games of pool play.

"Although the results not what we wanted or expected, we played three very solid teams and very good baseball," Pittsfield manager Bryon Sherman said. "We had a tough draw, but we gave away some outs and at bats.

"That said, we played until the last out each game."

Keene scored three in the top of the first to go up early, but Pittsfield came back with a pair in the bottom of the inning.

Sam Sherman hit a leadoff single. Owen Kroboth ended up driving him home with a single and scoring on Nick Hall's two-out RBI single.

Kaden Codey, Stevie Zuccalo, Anthony Telladira and Michael Britten each had a hit for Pittsfield.

Sherman, Britten and Codey split time on the mound.

Pittsfield once again had trouble turning base runners into runs. It left nine runners on base in the loss.

14-year-old Tournament
ROCHESTER, N.H. -- Barre, Vt., jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held off a Pittsfield rally in the top of the seventh to earn a 5-3 win in the 14-year-old New England Regional.

Jake Hall and Nick Guachione had RBI singles in the three-run rally, but the Vermont state champions got a fly ball to right to end the inning with runners on second and third.

Will Kinne and Guachione each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Pittsfield.

Brandon Mazzeo and Adam Lazits split time on the mound, allowing three earned runs between them.

Pittsfield (2-1) on Monday plays Maine state champ Greater Portland at 2:30 to begin the bracket-play phase of the tournament.

13-year-old Tournament
STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Pittsfield Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Stars Sunday beat Milford, Conn., 11-4, to wrap up pool play at the New England Regional.

The win gives Pittsfield a 3-0 record and a No. 1 seed going into the tournament's bracket-play phase.

With the top seed comes a bye through the first round of bracket play in the six-team field.

Pittsfield Tuesday will face the winner of Monday's matchup between Plymouth, Mass., and North Providence-Smithfield, R.I. In pool play, Pittsfield beat Plymouth, 5-3; the Rhode Island state champs were in the other bracket.
