Sammons Being Named New Pittsfield Fire Chief

Thomas Sammons is pinned as deputy chief last year by his wife, Joyce.
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Deputy Chief Thomas Sammons is set to become the city's new fire chief. 
 
A press conference has been scheduled in Mayor Linda Tyer's office on Wednesday morning. Sammons has accepted the appointment, according to a release from the mayor. 
 
He will replace Fire Chief Robert Czerwinski, who retired in July after 32 years with the city's Fire Department  
 
Sammons was promoted to deputy chief last year and has 23 years with the department. He holds a degree in criminal justice from the former Southern Vermont College.
