Friday, Sept.6 is First Friday Artswalk and More!

Enjoy 18 different art shows featuring work by more than two dozen accomplished regional and student artists in Pittsfield's bustling Upstreet Cultural District during the First Friday Artswalk and all month long!

In most venues, artists will be present from 5-8 p.m. A free guided tour begins at 5 p.m. at the Intermodal Center @ BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave.

The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts will be hosting Out of the Studio, featuring the artists of the Lichtenstein, for the month of September. There will be an opening reception during the Artswalk from 5-8 p.m.

SAT Albany Berkshire Ballet at The Colonial

Albany Berkshire Ballet presents A Midsummer Night's Dream - one of its most celebrated productions, reinvented with new choreography by Paula Weber. In this magical two-act ballet telling of Shakespeare's beloved comedy, Queen Titania and King Oberon rule over the fairies and toy with the lives of mortals as they manipulate mismatched human lovers in ecstatic dance. With music by Felix Mendelssohn and original set art by Thurston Munson, this is sure to delight all ages and experience levels. 7:30 p.m.

Saturday's Designing with da Vinci and da Vinci After Hours are your last chances to interact with the exhibit Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion before it closes! From September 9 through September 13, the Museum will be closed while it de-installs the exhibit, making room for something new.

The month-long Out of the Studio exhibit at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts presents a Physical Poetry Workshop with action-based dance artist Stefanie Weber. In this workshop, you'll be guided to use your body as a source for generating moving art that will be witnessed. This movement will be investigative, expressive, and transforming. 6-8 p.m.

FRI-MON Vita & Virginia at The Little Cinema

Poet and novelist Vita Sackville-West (Gemma Arterton) and literary icon Virginia Woolf (Elizabeth Debicki) run in different circles in 1920s London. When the two cross paths, the magnetic Vita decides the beguiling, stubborn, and gifted Virginia will be her next conquest. Vita and Virginia forge an unconventional affair, set against the backdrop of their own strikingly contemporary marriages; an affair that inspires one of Virginia's most iconic novels, Orlando. The film offers a glimpse into the complex nature of relationships and marriages, questioning what it is to be female and feminine, and details the fraught hypocrisies of living in the 1920s.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

Let's Go Pink is a cancer awareness exhibit that will be on view at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield throughout October, 2019. The opening reception will be Friday, Oct. 4 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. as part of that month's First Friday Artswalk. Twenty percent of sales will go to BTG PLAYS!, 15% to BMC Integrative Health Program's intuitive painting class for cancer patients, and the other 65% to the artist.
