HARDWICK, Mass. -- If ever there was a moral victory, it was the one-point defeat suffered by the BArT basketball team on Thursday afternoon.

Brandon Bamba’s last-second shot was tipped by Eagle Hill to secure a 61-60 win over Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School.

“Eagle Hill is a very strong program,” BArT coach Robert Daugherty said. “They play many more games in their season, and they often play teams that are at a higher skill level than those in the River Valley Athletic League [BArT’s league].

“The first time we played Eagle HIll four years ago, they won, 86-6. The fact that we were able to just have a close game catapults the BArT basketball program to a bona-fide competitive team.”

On Thursday, the Wolfpack bounced back from an early 13-point deficit and trailed by six points in the last minute of the game before rallying for a potential game-winning shot.

Bamba scored 36 points, including 18 from 3-pointers.

His brother Isaac scored 15, the fewest he had in a game for BArT in two years, Daugherty said.

“This wasn’t because of bad play or bad shooting, but mostly because of him very effectively moving the ball and getting many assists to his brother,” Daugherty added.

Will Peets scored five points, and Owen Brady and Ty Aubin each had a basket for BArT.

BArT (2-1) is off until it hosts St. Michael’s on Jan. 7. Eagle Hill visits the North Adams Armory on Jan. 14.
