WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- More than a dozen figure skaters from around the area are scheduled to compete in this weekend's Bay State Winter Games at Williams College's Lansing Chapman Rink.

 

Three days of competition get under way on Friday evening and continue through Sunday.

 

Seven members of the Pittsfield Figure Skating Club will compete in various divisions of the U.S. Figure Skating competition.

 

That group includes: Daniella Satamarina, 17, of Pittsfield; Katie Malone-Smith, 41, of Hinsdale; Briana Palmieri, 17, of Pittsield; Amanda Drager, 17, of Dalton; Dakota Marquis, 14, of Lanesborough; Carly Lyon, 13, of Lee; and Caroline Gillette, 15, of Pittsfield.

 

The USFS class also includes a pair of skaters from the Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club. Adams' Shaleigh Levesque, 17, will compete in the female excel juvenile plus division. Danielle Furlong, 31, of Dalton, will go for a medal in the female adult silver division.

 

The Bay State Games also features competiition under the auspices of the Ice Skating Institute.

 

Seven Christmas Brook members will compete in ISI divisions: Samantha Taxter, Malone-Smith, Madalyn Benson, Amelia Art, Emma Arnold, Elliana O'Leary an Anna Thurston.

 

Any skater winning a medal at this weekend's competition in Williamstown qualifies to compete at the 2021 State Games of America competition in Iowa.

 

Figure skating is the first of two Bay State Winter Games events currently scheduled in the Berkshires. A master's ice hockey tournament is scheduled for Feb. 28 to March 1 at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink in North Adams.
