Pittsfield Babe Ruth 14s Start Travel Season Unbeaten

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Babe Ruth travel baseball program's 14-year-old team is off to a 5-0 start this summer.
 
With Babe Ruth Baseball's state and national tournament competitions canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program is competing in the Eastern New York Baseball League.
 
Recent games for the Pittsfield Thunder include:
 
Pittsfield 12, Berkshire Americans 1
Nick Brindle had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
 
Christian Salzarulo threw a one-hitter and struck out seven in three innings of work to earn the win on the mound. Brayden Gutzmer threw two innings of relief, striking out four and had a double at the plate.
 
Austin Buda doubled for the Americans, who got a pair of hits from Mike Szabo.
 
Pittsfield 10, Berkshire Americans 2
Tommy Mullin had three hits, and Damon Pause had two hits, including a double for Pittsfied.
 
Brindle and Gutzmer added two hits apiece.
 
Charlie Wendell and Ben Cornish combined to allow two hits in the win.
 
Szabo and Jacob Howland each had a single for the Americans.
 
Pittsfield 16, Greene County (N.Y.) Outlaws 0
Evan Blake struck out 10 in earning a no-hitter on the mound.
 
Brindle had a double and a pair of singles and five RBIs, and Alex Williams had three hits and drove in two.
 
Salzarulo, Blake, Cam Sime and Charlie Burega each had two hits and two RBIs. Burega notched a double and a triple.
 
Pittsfield 4, Devil Cats (N.Y.) 2
Cornish doubled and drove in a pair of runs, and Owen Salvatore doubled in a run.
 
Salzarulo earned the win on the mound, giving up a pair of hits. Pause earned the save.
 
Pittsfield 11, Devil Cats 5
Gutzmer had two hits at the plate and earned the win on the mound, allowing three hits.
 
Brindle and Salzarulo each had a pair of hits. Salvatore hit a triple and Keegan Crouse doubled.
 
Charlie Wendell made an appearance on the mound in relief.
