Different Breed Captures BABL Title

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Christian Womble homered and drove in four runs Sunday to lead Different Breed to an 8-3 win over B.B.A. in the finals of the Berkshire Adult Baseball League's 20-year-old division.
 
The win evened the best-of-three championship series for Different Breed, which then took the league title when B.B.A. forfeited Game 3 of the series.
 
In the 35-and-over division, the Adams Aces earend a 5-1 win over the Berkshire Thunder on Sunday to force a Game 3 in their championship series.
 
The Aces and Thunder will play for the league title on Wednesday at 5:15 at the Dalton American Legion Field.
 
On Sunday, Jeremy Broadwell scattered six hits in a complete-game victory on the mound.
 
Matt Larabee doubled and drove in three runs, and Jonathan Boucher doubled and drove in a pair in the win.
 
Livernay Vasallo doubled for the Thunder in the loss.
 
In the 20-year-old final on Sunday, Nick Taylor and Nick Rufo split time on the mound to earn the win.
 
Taylor struck out four and allowed one earned run in four innings of work. Rufo struck out a pair in three innings of scoreless relief.
 
Scott Blanchette doubled, and Jett Steinman drove in a pair of runs for Different Breed.
 
Christian Robitaille and Marc Massery each had a pair of hits for B.B.A., and Richard Dumas struck out 10 in a complete-game loss on the mound.
