Update: Thursday evening, Pittsfield Police arrested Douglas Slier Jr., age 33 of Pittsfield, without incident. 

 

According to a Pittsfield Police Department statement, Slier quickly developed as a suspect in the previous evening's armed robbery of Mobile Mart on North Street in Pittsfield.

 

Slier is charged with one count of armed robbery, and will be arraigned today at Central Berkshire District Court.

 

Members of the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, Crime Scene Services, and Anti-Crime Unit all contributed to the investigation.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Mobil Mart located at 580 North St.

 

A man dressed in black entered the convenience store shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, showed the clerk a knife and demanded money from the register. The suspect reached over the counter and grabbed an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot, the clerk told police.

 

The Mobil Mart clerk was unharmed during the incident.

 

The suspect is described as a masked, white male, approximately 30 years of age, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, wearing a black coat with a hood. He was wearing black sneakers with white soles.

 

A K9 unit conducted a track of the area in which the suspect was last seen running.

 

Members of the Detective Bureau and Crime Scene responded. Their investigation is ongoing. Surveillance in the area is currently being reviewed.
