LENOX, Mass. — Applications for the 2024 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award are now available from the Zonta Club of Berkshire County website, www.ZontaBerkshire.org.

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman's commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the empowerment of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the empowerment of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award Program looks to the young women of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Applicants aged 16-19 studying at a high school, college or university in a Zonta district/region, or who are studying elsewhere but are citizens of a Zonta country at the time of application, are eligible to apply. Applications are due: March 15th. The Berkshire County winner will be announced by April 1  and the winning application will be forwarded on to the Zonta International Foundation for Women to complete for a $5,000 International Award.

The Zonta Club of Berkshire County chartered in 1994, is an organization of Berkshire County women working together to improve the lives of girls and women locally and worldwide.  It is a not-for-profit organization that is 100 percent volunteer-run and driven.
