ADAMS, Mass. – Ryder Froio hit two home runs, and Shayne Clairmont struck out 10 hitters in four innings Thursday to lead the Pittsfield Little League 12-year-old All-Stars to victory in the Don Gleason District 1 Championship Game. Froio was 2-for-3 with five RBIs, and Clairmont helped his cause by going 3-for-3 in an 18-5 win over Adams-Cheshire that sends Pittsfield back to next week’s Section 1 tournament, one step away from the state’s Final Four. LENOX, Mass. — With a motorcade that stretched for a mile and dozens of volunteers ready to help with the erection process, the Vietnam Traveling War Memorial arrived at War Memorial Field on Thursday afternoon. The three-fifths scale replica of the national monument in Washington, D.C., will officially open to the public with an 11 a.m. opening ceremony on Friday morning and will be on view through a 3 p.m. closing ceremony on Sunday. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The proposed short-term rental ordinance is nearing its final form. At the end of June, the Ordinances and Rules subcommittee tabled proposed zoning changes that would allow the operation of short-term rentals. City councilors had to make several decisions, including designating a granting authority and establishing a yearly cap on the number of days an STR can be rented. The proposed ordinance defines a short-term rental as "a rental property offering a consecutive stay of no more than thirty (30) days, with the exception of bed-and-breakfasts, hotels, motels and Lodging Houses or timeshares." Last month, Mayor Peter Marchetti and Metropolitan Chief Executive George Justice Arthur, of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, made the partnership official with a virtual signing ceremony. The second half of the event is a delegation trip from Nov. 1 to Nov. 11.
