Wahconah Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian for 2025| 03:10PM / Friday, May 30, 2025 | |
 DALTON, Mass. — Logan D. Kunde and Thomas A. Celentano have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the 2025 graduating class at Wahconah Regional High School. Both students will speak at graduation ceremonies on Sunday, June 1, at 1 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Kunde is the son of Jeremiah and Amanda Kunde, both of Dalton. While at Wahconah, Logan's academic program included Honors and Advanced Placement coursework. He is active in Wahconah's athletic program, participating in the cross country running team and swim team, of which he was captain. Equities remained on hold this week but managed to produce gains for the month. Tariff news dominated the tape, while the quarterly earnings results supported the market overall. Thanks to strong earnings from Nvidia and a federal court decision against reciprocal tariffs. It was a Mr. Myagi kind of week as tariffs off, tariffs on ping-ponged through the federal court system while global markets reacted in kind. On Wednesday, a federal trade court blocked some of President Trump's most sweeping tariffs, set to take effect in July. Emerson College senior Esther Chilson of Lanesborough participated in a number of productions with the Boston college during the spring 2025 semester: "I Love XXX" in February; "Limber, A Love Story" from Feb. 26 to March 1 at the Greene Theater; also in March, six short plays at the 2025 NewFest Short Works in the college's Semel Theater and "Red Wolf," a show about a monster that knocks on a grieving family's door, in the Greene Theater. Curry College in Milton welcomed Danielle Fusini of Windsor into the Alexander Graham Bell Honor Society. In response to the letter from Dalton Finance chair, Mr. William Drosehn, published on May 28, 2025, he misleads the public once again.
In the letter published May 28, 2025, Mr. Drosehn, chair of the Dalton Finance Committee, shares that the Finance Committee did not "target the Police Department." Simply watch the video of the Finance Committee on March 26, 2025. At the 2:01:50 mark, the motion for the vote is read to support the budget, it was quickly rejected 1-4 vote with many of the Finance Committee members not present. Watch the body language and the surprise on the vice chair's face, who then resigned the next day.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City of Pittsfield's Department of Public Utilities will begin hydrant flow testing on Tuesday, June 3. The testing will occur throughout the city over several weeks to assess flow rates and pressure. Testing will take place between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM on scheduled dates. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) will hold a swim clinic for high school students on Saturday, June 28 at 9:30 am at Paterson Field House, located on BCC's main campus at 1350 West Street, Pittsfield. The clinic is open to all high school–aged swimmers entering ninth through 12th grades in the 2025-26 school year. The fee is $45 ($30 for Paterson Field House gym members). The clinic is limited to 30 swimmers, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The School Committee expects to take a vote on the middle school restructuring proposal by the end of June.
"I think that more people are feeling better about it," Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational Engagement Matthew Bishop told the School Committee.
"I mean there’s still concerns, and I think we won’t assuage any of those concerns until we can get into some of those details around this is what the start time might be, this is what bussing would look like. There’s still some unknowns with that, and I think in the planning for this in the coming year, we would have to really get those details out

The Action Ambulance course will be held June 2 – Sept. 6 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and every other Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The County Ambulance course will be held June 16 – Aug. 23 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Seating is limited, and 100 percent attendance is required. I have immense respect for the work performed by our Police Department. It is certainly a great comfort for the town's people that they can feel safe. However, reviewing the police budget was still necessary and appropriate to assure the townspeople that the department's budget was the best it could be. The Finance Committee did not target the police budget; instead, all departments underwent the same objective process. The misinformation presented by the Police Department at the May 19 Select Board meeting was very unfortunate.
