Pittsfield Cooperative Bank Hires Cash Management Officer

BCC Announces Summer Swimming Pool Hours

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The swimming pool at Berkshire Community College (BCC), located in Paterson Field House, opens for the summer season on Saturday, June 22 and remains open to the public until Saturday, Aug. 31.    Hours of operation for public use are Monday-Friday, 9 am-6:45 pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 9 am-5:45 pm. The pool will be closed in observation of Independence Day on Thursday, July 4.    On weekdays from 11 am-noon and 1-1:15 pm, the pool is shared with the YMCA Day Camp. There are always a minimum of two lanes open to the public.    Daily rates are $7 for individuals and $25 for families of four to six members. Seasonal rates are $135 for

Dalton Select Board Approves Eversource Special Permit

DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board approved Eversource's request for a special permit to upgrade the utility's infrastructure on Barton Hill Road.   During the public hearing last week, abutting residents expressed that they were satisfied with the updated plans.    Eversource line worker apprentice Brandon Owen and other representatives have been communicating with the affected residents to find an ideal location for everyone in the splice pit.   With this approval, Eversources civil contractor, Dan Burke Construction, will begin the trenching portion of the project almost immediately because that is what takes the longest, Eversource Senior Account

BCC Faculty Members Win HIM Team Excellence Award

Goodwill Receives Grant from Eversource

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont announced that it has received a grant of $1,200 from the Eversource Foundation for its Soar for Success program.   In the last year, Goodwill's Soar for Success program served 53 individuals with job coaching and other services, and provided 1,168 vouchers for clothing and household items to individuals in need.   Goodwill's Soar for Success job training program focuses on teaching essential employment skills, provides interview and work-appropriate clothing, and helps community members' secure meaningful work. The program is offered free of charge to all Berkshire County residents.

Dalton Historical Enters First Phase of Establishing 2nd Historic District

DALTON, Mass. — The Historical Commission has embarked on the first phase of establishing its second historical district.    During last week's meeting, co-Chair Louisa Horth brought three maps of the proposed district, which would run from the cemetery on Park Avenue down to Depot Street.    She recommended dividing the proposed district into multiple sections and assigning each section to specific commissioners.   The commission is responsible for taking pictures of every building within the district that meets historical status. Bianchi-Barbarotta Foundation Raises Over $40K at Golf Tournament

Two People Shot in Downtown Pittsfield

UPDATE: Pittsfield Police say the two individuals who were shot on Friday were treated at Berkshire Medical Center and are expected to survive. It is believed that both victims were shot by the same person who fled the scene on foot.   Based on evidence collected to this point, police do not believe the Friday's shooting is related to Tuesday's in which a city man was killed. The suspect in that fatal incident has been arrested and charged with murder.   Law enforcement officials are asking for the public's cooperation in this investigation as oftentimes it is instrumental in the investigation and prosecution of these cases.   Anyone who wishes to provide
