PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Affordable Housing Trust voted to require that grantees of funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Community Initiative program sign an assurance agreement for nondiscrimination.
The agreement states that, as a condition of federal financial assistance, they will comply with national law and policies that prohibit discrimination, including Title IV, Title IX, and titles within the Americans with Disabilities Act, and allow the USDA to access records for a compliance review or complaint investigation.

Shoppers weren't the only beneficiaries at the ribbon cutting, as Craneville Elementary in Dalton received a $5,000 donation for back-to-school supplies.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — AccessPlus Fiber plans to expand into the city, providing residents, businesses, and schools with another option for internet service.
Last week, the City Council supported AccessPlus' plan to build an underground fiber broadband network in Pittsfield. The company offers plans that start at $65 per month for 1 Gbps and has a "soft three-year plan" for full expansion into the city.

A public site visit in July raised concerns about the limited access to the water because of foliage and bank erosion controls. PITTSFIELD, Mass.— The city plans to create water access points on the south shore of Pontoosuc Lake Park.
This comes after community members asserted that bank plantings limited access for swimming and fishing. Because the area is shared with boats, the north side of the park is staged for a formal swimming area with a beach.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass.— On Sunday, the Pittsfield Skate Plaza will be filled with vendors and, of course, skateboarding.
This comes months after the closure of Pittsfield's longtime skate shop, The Garden.
The Parks Commission on Tuesday approved a skate jam and flea market event scheduled for Aug. 24 at the Appleton Avenue park. It is a collaboration between Downtown Pittsfield Inc. and Bomb Shack Vintage, owned by professional BMX bike rider Jake Seeley.
DPI's Managing Director Rebecca Brien described it as a "shop and shred skateboard jam."
