Council Chair Marilyn Gerhard says the 79 grant applications for fiscal 2025 were the most she has seen during her time on the council. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield Cultural Council celebrated its 2025 grant awardees at Zucchini's last week. Council Chair Marilyn Gerhard welcomed everyone to the Wednesday event and congratulated those who received funding. "We provide grants to help underwrite projects, programs and events in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences," she said. DALTON, Mass. — The Cemetery Trustees will hold two informational sessions surrounding green burials at Ashuelot Cemetery. These sessions will take place at the Dalton Senior Center on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 1:30 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. with the goal to explain what green burials are, answer questions, and receive suggestions from residents. During the town meeting in May, voters approved allowing the Cemetery Trustees to create rules and regulations to govern green burials at Ashuelot Cemetery. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — In late June, the town's administrative assistant was arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $325,000 from a New York business.
“On June 30, 2025, New York State Police in Schodack arrested Corrine R. Bradley, 49 of Averill Park, N.Y., for grand larceny in the second degree, possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and falsifying business records in the first degree,” a July 9 press release from the New York State Police reads.
Bradley was appointed to the position at the April 28 Select Board meeting. She was described as a “more than qualified candidate” to replace the previous administrative

The pilot volunteer program has been funded by a state grant and the city is seeking ways to continue it. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Residents of The Pearl shelter have been cleaning downtown over the summer, creating a collective pride for the city while also taking pride in themselves.
From June to October, community members living at The Pearl volunteer to tidy the downtown three days a week and are paid with gift cards. The Pearl Ambassador Program, a pilot initiative run by Downtown Pittsfield Inc. and ServiceNet, is funded by a state grant; however, city officials would like to see it continue.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City Council on Tuesday sent the controversial camping ordinance to the Board of Health and requested regular updates beginning Oct. 28.
"It's up to what the council decides as what you want our role to be, specifically. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Career Center's internship program prepares high school students for the workforce by introducing them to employers and enrichment opportunities. The North County Internship Program, in its 11th year, had seven participating youths. Youth Program Director Heather Shogry-Williams told the Berkshire Workforce Board at its meeting last week that the program recently received a donation of $5,000 from Crane & Co. to help two of the students to continue with their work experiences during the first part of their school years.
