MassDOT Stresses Importance of Older Driver Safety Awareness

BOSTON — The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is underscoring the responsibility of families and friends to initiate critical conversations with drivers who are 65 years of age and older regarding their driving behaviors.     According to MassDOT, it is important to discuss and assess the ability of senior citizens to safely operate a motor vehicle. Lever Celebrates $1M Mark in Grants, Sustainability Challenge

Executive Director Jeffrey Thomas says more than 100 companies and startups have competed for grants in Lever's entrepreneurial competitions.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Economic development non-profit Lever celebrated a milestone of granting $1 million to entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and startups recently after concluding its sustainability challenge at Berkshire Community College.

GenH of Somerville was victorious over three other companies, securing a $40,000 innovation grant for its hydropower clean energy systems.

BOSTON — The Baker-Polito Administration announced plans to administer $168,591,178 from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to promote small business growth and entrepreneurship in Massachusetts.    This funding, awarded to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), will support new or expanded programs offered by quasi-public agencies MassDevelopment, Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation (MGCC), and MassVentures that provide access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Toys for Tots Meeting Increased Community Need This Holiday Season

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Toys for Tots has well over 200 collection boxes out in the county this year for children in need.

The toy collection program accepts new, unwrapped toys for ages newborn to 14 years old in the months of October, November, and December so that no local kid goes without.

Berkshire County coordinator Christopher Keegan, who works in the maintenance department at the Berkshire County House of Correction, has been leading the effort for eight years now and has seen the hardships go up with rising costs of living.

Virtual Meeting on Baby Bonds Program Findings

Passenger Rail Commission Sets Public Meeting in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Western Massachusetts Passenger Rail Commission is holding a public meeting on Friday on plans for east/west passenger rail.    The meeting is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Berkshire Innovation Center on Woodlawn Avenue.
