NBT Bank presents a check of $2,000 to the public art partnership. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — NBT Bank celebrated its move across North Street on Wednesday with a ribbon cutting, pledging a continued commitment to the community.
The new location at 75 North St., the former Lee Bank, has a larger customer service area, a 24-hour ATM, and more parking options.
Director of Retail Banking Tom Sutton said the bank's commitment to downtown Pittsfield began 10 years ago with its branch location across the street. The bank moved to 54 North St. in 2014 and, at 75 North St., it remains in the heart of the downtown.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City Council started this term with a divisive vote on a budget suggestion.
A petition from Councilor at Large Kathy Amuso on Tuesday requesting the presentation of a budget that is "close to level-funded" was approved 7-4 with President Peter White, Councilors at Large Alisa Costa and Earl Persip III, and Ward 7 Councilor Rhonda Serre voting in opposition.
Amuso explained that during her previous terms on the School Committee and the council, approving the budget was always the worst meeting. She is stunned by tax rate increases and wants the city to take immediate action in preparation for the fiscal 2025 budget season.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC), which was selected last year to participate in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP)'s Mission 18, has announced its project to be sent to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of a microgravity research experiment. Entitled "The Effects of Microgravity on the Chromosomal Alignment on the Metaphase Plate in Onion Root Tip Cells," the project was researched and devised by BCC students William Garrity, Erica Langnickel and Anastasiya Bolotova. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city now has $8 million in PCB pollution settlement funds to support economic development.
The City Council on Tuesday accepted the payment of $8,000,000 from General Electric Corp. per the Rest of River settlement agreement on the cleanup of the Housatonic River. The funds will be put into the city's Economic Development Fund which supports growing businesses in the community.
Mayor Peter Marchetti explained that the cleanup has been making its way south for years.
