Pittsfield Little League 10-Year-Olds Survive in Sectional

PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Luca Bassi struck out four and allowed four hits in four innings Friday to lead the Pittsfield Little League 10-year-old All-Stars to an 11-1 win over Longmeadow in an elimination game in the Section 1 Tournament at Deming Park.   Bassi helped his cause by going 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs as Pittsfield stayed alive to advance to Saturday’s game at Holden, a 3-2 loser against Westfield on Friday night.   Bassi left a runner on third base in three of four innings in Friday’s complete-game effort. BCC Names Spring Dean's List Students

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) is pleased to announce it has named 584 students to the spring 2025 dean's list.  

 

To be eligible for the dean's list, students must achieve a GPA of 3.750 to 4.000 to earn high honors, while students with a GPA of 3.250 to 3.749 earn an honors designation. All dean's list students must be matriculated in a certificate or degree program; complete a minimum of six traditionally graded credit hours, and achieve grades of C or higher in all classes during a semester of one academic year.  

 

Students are grouped first by award level, then listed by city and state.

Playwriting Reception and Reading at Arrowhead

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire County Historical Society invites visitors to hear selected works by playwrights who attended the July 13-18 playwriting intensive held at Arrowhead and lead by Elizabeth Doss.     The free event is being held at Arrowhead July 18 at 7 pm.   In addition, on July 19 Ms. Doss will "talk back" to "The Confidence Man", the last published and completed novel by Melville in his lifetime.    The event begins at 7 pm in the barn at Arrowhead. The Brien Center Appoints New CBHC Division Director

Dalton Select Board Hires Consultant for Town Manager Search

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Thanksgiving Angels leaders were deemed "heroines" for bringing food to the holiday tables of thousands each year. 

During Tuesday's City Council meeting, Hope Amandos and Gretchen Debartolo were honored as Commonwealth Heroines by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. Last fall, the two were selected as iBerkshires' Community Heroes of the Month.

Westfield 10-Year-Olds Top Pittsfield in Sectional

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Hunter Werman threw four innings of shutout baseball as the Westfield 10-year-old Litte League All-Stars defeated Pittsfield, 9-5, in the Section 1 Tournament on Thursday.   In his strong outing, Werman recorded eight strikeouts.   Pittsfield used six different pitchers in the loss.   “We really just wanted to test our arms tonight,  and we learned a lot from what we called a 20/20 pitcher,” Pittsfield coach Matt Stracuzzi said.   “This means we put a new pitcher in every 20 pitches just to get to see how they perform and I was not disappointed despite the loss.”   Caleb Tierney of Pittsfield
