Pittsfield Health Board Orders Demo of Charred MultifamilyBy Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff

PITTSFIELD, Mass. The Board of Health on Wednesday voted to demolish a condemned multifamily that was destroyed by a fire last year. The panel voted to order a demolition for 91 to 93 Orchard Street, which suffered a two-alarm structure fire on July 4, 2022, that charred the front porch and front portion of the home. It was condemned a few days later. Director of Public Health Andy Cambi explained that the department identifies properties with code violations that impair health and safety as condemned and after a year, they have the option to bring the property to demolish. "We do that in most cases where there are no interested parties in the dwelling," he said, adding

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer a six-part Bartending and Mixology workshop as part of its series of personal enrichment workshops on Mondays, Nov. 13 through Dec. 18 from 5:30-7:30 pm. The workshop series will be held at the Polish Falcon Club, located at 32 Bel Air Ave, Pittsfield. The fee is $189 for all six sessions. To register, visit www.berkshirecc.edu/2023workshops. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Wednesday night's mayoral debate at Berkshire Community College started off with a bang as candidates spoke to controversies that have come out during their campaigns.
At the start of the event hosted by Pittsfield Community Television and iBerkshires, Peter Marchetti and John Krol wasted no time in addressing them.
Krol was accused of using nearly $7,000 from a nonprofit cat rescue and Marchetti was named in a civil complaint filed in September by former co-worker Victoria May at Pittsfield Cooperative Bank that included allegations of sex discrimination and creating a hostile work environment.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The human remains found at Wahconah Park last month have been identified as 43-year-old Luis Lopez-Lopez but the cause of death is still pending. Lopez-Lopez's remains had been found by a city worker who was cutting brush on the property. "The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office accepted the case. On Friday October 27 the ME's office notified PPD that the remains were positively identified as 43 year old Luis Lopez-Lopez," the Pittsfield Police Department wrote in a press release.
