"You hear a lot of things," Chair Mark Siegars said to the committee last week. "Some people are really upset. Some people are like, 'Why are we wasting our time? They already did a good plan.' Some people are saying, 'Why are we wasting our time? We don't have any money.'"

Members voiced support for making a comprehensive report of every multiple-choice response and the written responses. In the next week, they will have a

Committee members Cliff Nilan and Chair Earl Persip III discuss options at last week's meeting.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Wahconah Park Restoration Committee got a first look at what the historic ballpark could become.

Members last week saw two possible plans: a renovated option and an elevated option. Other important aspects including flooding considerations and a natural grass versus artificial turf field were also mulled by committee members and the public.

Principal architect Salvatore Canciello explained that the controlling factor of the renovated option is the potential to save the superstructure of the roof.

"While it still needs major repair, it is

Pittsfield Artist's Stolen Paintings Found After Six Months
By Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff
05:23PM / Tuesday, July 25, 2023

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Someone stole two paintings by local artist Edward Pelkey this past January.

On Sunday, they turned up at a tag sale on Elm Street.

For Pelkey, it was a surreal experience. He was having a regular Sunday when he was alerted of their location by an acquaintance.

"Half an hour later, I was home with my paintings," he said. "It's strange how life works, both the theft and the return."

But this hasn't ended the six-month mystery of the artworks' whereabouts.

Back in January, the Pittsfield-based artist's works titled "The New Gunfighter in Town" and "The Cubist Bounty Hunter" were reported stolen from

Dalton Select Board May Forgive Back Taxes for 463 High St.
By Sabrina Damms, iBerkshires Staff
05:22AM / Tuesday, July 25, 2023

DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board voted last week to forgive about $8,000 in back taxes and fees for 463 High St. — but not without some stipulations.

If the receiver, Adam Oliveri, sends a letter of commitment to remain the receiver of the property, the board agrees to forgive the back taxes because it is under $10,000 and the costs are more than the assessed value of the property.

A revised demolition quote of $52,975 is more than the land assessment of $46,400, so the waiving of the back taxes is the town's attempt to encourage the receiver not to back out.

The single-family home has long-standing code violations that pose a serious risk to public
