Housatonic River Cleanup Set Saturday07:01PM / Monday, July 17, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Volunteers are invited to help clean up the west branch of the Housatonic River with Berkshire Environmental Action Team and Housatonic Valley Association on Saturday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. After the cleanup, volunteers will be provided a free hot lunch from a local restaurant. State Allocates $330K for 2 Berkshire Dam Projects03:25PM / Monday, July 17, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two Berkshire County dam projects were among 21 across the state receiving funding from the state's Dam and Seawall Program. Pittsfield's Sandwash Reservoir dam rehabilitation project is receiving $250,000 toward design and permitting; the Plunkett Dam spillway in Hinsdale is getting $82,500 for design and permitting. The Sandwash Reservoir is owned by the city of Pittsfield but located in the town of Washington. It flows into the Farnham Reservoir and from there into the Ashley intake to the Ashley Water Treatment Plant.
