 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After three years in business on East Street, Sibaritas is moving downtown.
On Monday, the Licensing Board approved a new annual downtown all-alcohol restaurant license for the eatery's new location in the former Trattoria Rustica at 27 McKay St.
"I couldn't be happier for you," board member Jon Lifergren said. "I think it's a win-win move and I'm really excited about it."
Other board members agreed and Chair Thomas Campoli coined the East Street operation as a "wild success."
Megan and Ronald Gomez opened the Italian restaurant with a Chilean flare in 2021 in the former Elizabeth's Restaurant at 1264 East

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A school official drifted into a "chicken or the egg?" direction regarding the negative implications of cell phones during a policy meeting. "I understand where the cell phone mental health issue is coming from and I do think a lot of it is social media driven," said School Committee member William Garrity, who is two years out of high school.

 LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The Fire and Water District received a $1 million boost from the state for a new drinking water well on Bull Hill Road.
While the project is expected to cost as much as $8 million, this will allow planners to gather enough information to make an informed decision about moving forward with additional permitting, design, and construction, legal consultant Mark Siegars told iBerkshires in an email.

Construction equipment and materials at Springside Pond. Below, diagram of the pond. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The long-awaited rehabilitation of Springside Pond has begun and is expected to wrap up in the fall.
Construction vehicles and piles of materials can be seen on the southern portion of the 237-acre park next to the pavilion. Plans include sediment removal, dam repair, and increased accessibility.
"Really since year 2000, the city has been thinking about the restoration of Springside Pond," Park, Open Space, and Natural Resource Program Manager James McGrath told the Parks Commission last year.

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced more than $17.4 million in grant awards to 21 public water suppliers to assist with long-term solutions that address and mitigate emerging contaminants in drinking water. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) selected 21 projects to help remove PFAS and manganese. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city is looking to add another leadership position to the public works department.
The Personnel Review Board on Monday supported the creation of a deputy commissioner in the Department of Public Services and Utilities. The full-time position, if approved by the City Council, will have a Grade M-8 pay scale with a yearly salary ranging from $89,247 to $116,021.
This position would assist Commissioner of Public Services and Utilities Ricardo Morales.
