For the last six months Health Agent Agnes Witkowski, Senior Center Director Kelly Pizzi, and resident and Adams Senior Center Director Sarah Fontaine have been working with a team to develop the funds guidelines. The town voted during a May town meeting to transfer $20,000 from free cash for seed money for a condemned housing fund. BHS Relocating Helicopter Landing Zone to Hillcrest Campus of BMC02:00PM / Tuesday, October 01, 2024 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems has announced that the helicopter landing zone for Berkshire Medical Center is being relocated to the Hillcrest Campus of BMC in order to enhance and improve safety for helicopter crews and patients. This change comes with the support of the Pittsfield Police and Fire Departments and local EMS providers. The move will be effective on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Hundreds gathered last month at the Berkshire Hills Country Club to mark the anniversary. The service agency, which is a chapter of Arc of Massachusetts, was founded in 1954 when 11 families banded together to meet the needs of differently-abled loved ones. Pontoosuc Lake Health Advisory No Longer in Effect10:03AM / Tuesday, October 01, 2024 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Due to recent results of sampling at Pontoosuc Lake, the public health advisory issued on Sept. 18, 2024 has been rescinded and is no longer in effect. On Sept. 18, the city announced observations results at Pontoosuc Lake confirmed the presence of a blue-green algae bloom that could have present harmful health effects for users of the lake.
