WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Fresh Fest, a food and farm film festival, will take place from Friday, Feb. 28, through Sunday, March 2 and will feature films about food, farming, culture and community.

The following films will be presented throughout the weekend:

• "A Place at the Table," Friday, 5 p.m., Images Cinema
• "TEDx Manhattan: Changing the Way We Eat," Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. (Live stream broadcast), Wege Auditorium
• "After Winter, Spring" Saturday, 3 p.m., Images Cinema
• "Soul Food Junkies," Saturday, 3 p.m., Images Cinema

All showings are free to attend and open to the public.

"A Place at the Table" (2012) is a documentary directed by Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush starring Jeff Bridges and Tom Colicchio. The film tells the stories of three of  many Americans who maintain their dignity as they struggle to find food.

Williams will present a live-stream broadcast of "TEDxManhattan: Changing the Way We Eat." The event will feature 17 speakers who will cover such topics as food policy, hunger, sustainable agriculture, philanthropy, food racism, school food and local food distribution. "After Winter, Spring" (2012) is a documentary by Judith Lit about a 5,000-year old farming community in southwest France that questions whether it will be the last generation of family farmers. The film follows the French farmers over a period of three years as they face day-to-day challenges.

Byron Hurt's documentary "Soul Food Junkies" (2012) explores the pros and cons of soul food, a quintessential American cuisine. The film looks at the history and social significance of soul food to black cultural identity and examines its effect on African American health. Through the lens of soul food, the film also investigates the dark side of the food industry and the food justice movement that has arisen as a result.

"Leviathan" (2012), a documentary by Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel of the Sensory Ethnography Lab at Harvard University, takes the viewer inside the dangerous world of commercial fishing. The film is set aboard a large fishing vessel navigating the New England coast.

The movie screenings will feature food from local producers including Wild Oats, Cricket Creek Farm and Wildflour Bakery.
