State police are seeking the whereabouts of Alfred Craven.
READSBORO, Vt. — A Readsboro man who allegedly assaulted someone with a 2x4 is wanted on charges of first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Law enforcement authorities have been unable to locate Craven since the incident was reported last Monday.
State police say Alfred Craven, 48, beat a 53-year-old Searsburg man so badly he suffered a skull and multiple facial fractures and a broken jaw.
According to Detective Sgt. James Wright, the victim walked into the Emergency Department at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington at about 7 p.m. on Sept. 4.
The victim, whose name is being witheld because of the "nature of the investigation," told state police that the incident had occured in Searsburg and that Craven had fled the scene. A warrant for Craven's arrest was issued.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Craven should contact state police at 802-442-5421 or local police department immediately.
