Curtis Says $200K Cut Won't Mean Staff Reductions

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Superintendent Joseph Curtis insists that the district's $200,000 budget cut will not reduce additional positions.    "We all feel strongly, and I'm sure that the [School Committee] does as well, that we will not reduce any additional staff members as a result of that $200,000 reduction," he said on Wednesday.    The day before, a $216 million city budget was passed that included a last-minute reduction to the schools. PHS Graduates: You Always Have a Home Under The Dome

LENOX, Mass. — Pittsfield High School graduates were reminded that they will always have a home under the dome.

Under an arch of purple and white balloons, 184 seniors concluded their high school experience at Tanglewood on Sunday. It was the first time in five years that graduation had been held at the Lenox institute. The 2024 class includes more than 50 high honors students, nearly 30 honors students, Advanced Placement capstone degree and certificate recipients, and Seals of Biliteracy in four different languages.

"Just remember you always have a home under the dome," Principal Maggie Harrington-Esko said.

Rain Symbolizes Taconic Class of 2024's Resilience

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Taconic High School graduates were told to stay resilient while seated in caps and gowns on the soggy grass.

The rain eased right before Taconic's 54th graduation ceremony on Sunday. Families, friends, and alumni gathered on the school's lawn in raincoats and smiles to celebrate 190 graduates.
