BCC Students in Nursing Programs Maintain High Pass Rate for Licensure Exam

PITTSFIELD, Mass —?Berkshire Community College (BCC) reports that its Practical Nursing (PN) students had a 100 percent first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure  Examination (NCLEX) licensure exam in the 2023 calendar year, while Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) students had a 91.43 percent pass rate for first-time test takers.    All 17 PN students passed, and 64 out of 70 ADN students passed.    NCLEX uses computerized adaptive testing (CAT) technology to deliver the exam, ensuring a valid and reliable measurement of nursing competence. FEMA Awards Funds to Massachusetts for COVID School Testing Costs

BOSTON — The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending more than $64 million to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to reimburse it for the cost of contracting to provide testing services in public schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.   The $64,144,440 Public Assistance grant will reimburse the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services for the cost of contracting to provide testing at schools and in public buildings in surrounding communities between February 2021 and June 2022.   The contractor provided services which included operations and logistics of pooled testing, training, software, and technical assistance to school personnel.   The

Dalton Select Board Approves CBRSD Regional Agreement

DALTON, Mass. — Central Berkshire Regional School District regional agreement update is closer to being completed.    The change to the regional agreement should not be a controversial issue because all the changes are to bring the agreement up to date on state law and how the district is currently run, School Committee Chair Richard Peters said during a Dalton Select Board meeting last month.    "It's not changing any of our policies or how we're running the district or any of that," he said.    The district is awaiting feedback from some of the seven member towns. Pittsfield Schools Point to Online Resource for Bullying, Peer Conflict.

Pittsfield School Committee Approves Vocational Admissions Policy, Courses

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The School Committee approved a pilot tutoring program, courses, and the vocational admissions policy for Taconic High School last week.

The Career Technical Education admissions policy has undergone changes over the last several years to eliminate roadblocks for vocational education. The revised policy, which has remained the same since 2021, eliminates criteria aside from residency for acceptance.
