PHS Students Showing Love With Art Show and Fundraiser

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield High School students are spreading the love with an art show and fundraiser before Valentine's Day.

The "For the Love of Art" exhibit will debut at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts on Friday, Feb. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., showcasing students' midway senior portfolios, drawings and paintings, photography, and ceramic works. The show will stay up for one week.

It is the artists' way of showing their passions while helping others.

Pittsfield Public Schools Undertake Safety, Security Changes

PITTSFIELD. Mass. — A presentation on emergency and safety practices was made to the school community on Tuesday, showing some changes that have been or will be made in the coming year.   The presentation was done over Zoom and open to the public.    The new systems are designed to improve security and access to security information and material.    The upgrade to the security system started three years ago so it now has interior and exterior cameras in all the schools as well as the buses. Central Berkshire's FY25 Draft Budget Up $1M

DALTON, Mass. — The Central Berkshire Regional School District is anticipating a 3.35 percent increase to its operating budget for fiscal 2025, which translates to nearly a little more than $1 million over this year.   This year's budget is $30,301,466, and next year is forecast at $31,315,659, a difference of $1,014,193.   Prior to presenting the draft at the Jan. 11 meeting, Superintendent Leslie Blake-Davis emphasized that these initial projections may change because there are still a lot of unknowns surrounding it, including health insurance and the governor's budget.   "This budget for us is really an ever-evolving process.
