 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield is upping its recycling game. The city has launched a new campaign to educate residents on the "dos" and "don'ts" of recycling. "Pittsfield Recycles — The Right Way" reminds people that food or liquid does not belong in recycling, recyclables cannot be bagged, and clothes don't go in the bin. The campaign kickstarted with a video starring Commissioner of Public Services and Utilities Ricardo Morales and will promote good recycling habits through early August. It will also feature three billboards throughout the city, an ad on a Berkshire Regional Transit Authority bus, and local public service announcements

CHESHIRE, Mass. — There will be a recycle and shred drive at the Cheshire Transfer Station to support the Youth Center. The drive will be held Saturday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the Cheshire Transfer station located at 191 Church St. The drive will be hosted by the Green Team, a local youth education program supported through MassDEP that teaches kids the importance of recycling. Every spring, Mass Audubon rents space in its organic gardens to members at Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary on Williams Street in Pittsfield. Participants have been growing vegetables, flowers, and herbs at the two-acre gardens site for over three decades.  The new trail off the 14-year-old Farm and Forest Trail is a collaboration of Shaker Village, Mill Town and Greenagers. HANCOCK, Mass. — Mill Town Capital, Hancock Shaker Village, and Greenagers are collaborating to reveal the archeological remains of five Shaker buildings from 1800 in a new trail that opens in mid-July. A Berkshire Environmental Action Team campaign "Put Peakers in the Past" is demanding that the three peaking power plants located in Berkshire County revert to only renewable and clean alternatives. "Peaking" plants are used to meet periods of high energy demand.
