Patricia Mary Rilla, 91

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Patricia Mary Rilla, 91, of 146 Newell St. died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Providence Care Center.
Born in Exeter, County of Devon, England, on Dec. 4, 1921, daughter of Leonard and Marjorie Grose Urpeth, she attended schools in England and came to Pittsfield in 1946 as a war bride.
Mrs. Rilla was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed knitting, baking and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Hugo J. Rilla, whom she married Sept. 15, 1945, died on Aug. 31, 1996.
She leaves two sons, Paul L. Rilla of Amherst and Alan J. Rilla of Boston; a daughter, Anne E. Carman of Monson; two sisters, Sheila V. Purrot of Wexham, England, and M. Jean Devonshire of Kingsbridge, England; leaves four grandchildren, Megan Hiltabidle, Cate Rilla, Amanda P. Rilla and Jacob A. Carman; two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Her sister Molly M. West is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Rilla will be held Friday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield.
Calling hours will be Friday morning from 10 to 11 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind or Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association in care of the funeral home.
