NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lena Pitman, 101, of Melbourne Place, 140 Melbourne Road, Pittsfield, formerly of North Adams, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care in Lenox.
Born in North Adams on June 15, 1913, daughter of Albert and Amanda Lajeuenesse Blair, she attended North Adams schools. She had lived in Pawtucket, R.I. for many years.
Mrs. Pitman and her husband, Arthur Pitman, travelled together around the country while he trained thoroughbred race horses.
She was an excellent piano player and gave lessons. She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church and a member of Le Cercle Francais.
Her husband died on Dec. 7, 1998.
The last of her immediate family, she leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her dozen siblings predeceased her: Clara Blair Rivers, Helen Blair Hervieux, Sylvia Blair, Bella Blair and Victor, Robert, Dennis, Theodore, Leo and William Blair, and two who died in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Pitman will be Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home.
