PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Irene Schwalbe, 84, of 20 Strong Ave. died Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.
Born in Pittsfield, on July 26, 1930, daughter of Harry and Letty Honigman Mindlin, she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School with honors and from the former Pittsfield Secretarial School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Schwalbe was employed as a legal secretary for attorney Albert Silverman for 15 years.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. She also was an avid skier and ice skater.
She leaves her husband, Norman Schwalbe, whom she married on July 1, 1962; a son, Hal Schwalbe and his wife, Liane, of Indianapolis; a brother, Irving Mindlin and his wife, Esther, of Pittsfield, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Robert Mindlin, David Mindlin, Herman Mindlin, Arthur Mindlin.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for Mrs. Schwalbe will take place Thursday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at Ahavath Sholem Cemetery, Churchill Street, Pittsfield, with Rabbi David Weiner, spiritual leader of Congregation Knesset Israel, officiating.
There are will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
