Richard A. Zaccari Sr., 90

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mr. Richard A. Zaccari Sr., 90, of 65 Circular Ave., died Monday, June 27, 2016, at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsfield on June 8, 1926, a son of the late Mariano and Isabella (Pupo) Zaccari and attended Pittsfield schools.
Richard was a carpenter by trade and was employed many years at Eastover Resort in Lenox, Mass. He was a Veteran of World War II in the United States Navy and at the time of his death was commander of the Father William Contino Italian American War Veterans Post 75 of Pittsfield. He also was a member of the Central Berkshire Holy Name Society.
Richard enjoyed golf, especially the annual Lake George golf trips with his many friends and spending time with his family and his cat Spook. He was a former communicant of Mt. Carmel Church and presently a communicant of St. Mark's Church.
His first wife, the former Serina Parise, died March 21, 1975.
Survivors include his second wife, the former Elizabeth (Williams) Larson Zaccari, whom he married on January 15, 1977; a son, Richard A. Zaccari Jr. and his wife Shirley of Pittsfield; a daughter, Maryann Hyatt and her husband Brian of Sheffield, Mass.; a step-son, Dean Larson and his wife Glenda of Hanover, Mass.; a step-daughter, Ellie Mulcahy and her husband David of Monmouth, Maine; eight grandchildren, Debbie Smith, Cheryl Zaccari, Richard Zaccari III, Nathan Larson, Andrew Larson, Beth Mills, Katherine Pope, Meredith Mulcahy; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Sister Mary Rose Zaccari, MPV of the Venerini Sisters, and Loretta Lisi.
Funeral notice: Services will take place Friday, July 1, 2016, at 9 a.m. from the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 400 West St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S. officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, June 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the Father William Contino Italian American War Veteran Post 75 and Central Berkshire Holy Name Society will meet at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening for a prayer service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Soldier On in care of the funeral home.
