PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ruth N. Munger Durant, 93, of Pittsfield passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Springside Nursing Home. 

She was born in Pittsfield on June 22, 1913, the daughter of the late John F. Munger, Sr. and Hazel Fish Munger. She was married to the late Donald C. Durant Sr., who passed away December 23, 1983. 

Mrs. Durant is survived by two daughters, Donna Britigan of Lanesborough, and Judith Avery and her husband Clifford "Sonny" Avery of Peru, Mass.; three sons, Thomas Durant and his wife Madaline of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Edward Durant of Dalton and Donald Durant, Jr. and his wife Paola of Herndon, Va.; two brothers, Donald Munger of Pittsfield and Raymond Munger and his wife Lois of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, Peter Britain Jr. and Danielle Brennan of Pittsfield, James Shackett (Julie) of Virginia Beach, Jeannine Rondeau (William) of Dalton, Vanessa Durant of Miami, Fla., and Gretchen Cardy (Steven) of North Carolina, and Jennifer Roberts (Josh) of Portland, Ore.; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Ruth was pre-deceased by a son, Mark R. Durant, who passed away May 3, 2014; two sisters, Mary Munger Luke and Dorothy "Pinky" Munger Pazeri; and three brothers, John "Jack" Munger Jr., Roswell Munger and Clifford "Chip" Munger. 

Funeral notice: Graveside services for Ruth N. Munger Durant will be private, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire County Arc in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
