Bradley J. Dorans, 38

PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Bradley J. Dorans, 38, of Newport News, Va., died Friday, July 8, 2016, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Va.



He was born in Pittsfield on March 10, 1978, son of Linda Galinski and Michael Dorans. He graduated from Drury High School in 1996 and joined the Marine Corps in June 1996. Brad did a five-year tour in the Marines and participated in Marine intramural sports also. He was a former two-time Western Massachusetts Champion (1995-1996) in wrestling; he captured first place in his weight class in MCAS Futenma open Freestyle tournaments. He was a member of Marine Corps Base Soccer team, which was the Camp Commander’s Cup Champions as well as the Commanding General’s Cup Champions.



Brad completed a one-year tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan. His accomplishments during his tour in Japan included excelling in the performance of his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 5963-Tactical Air Operations Module Repairman in Fleet Marine Force (FMF), MOS deals with electronic repair of radar sweeps, computers, crypto, and other electronic devices in the million dollar Tactical Air Operations Module.



During his off time back in USA, he attended some classes at University of Maryland also.



Survivors include his mother, Linda Galinski and Gregory Powell of Maryland, N.Y.; father Michael Dorans of Staten Island, N.Y.; two aunts, Louise Markarian (godmother) of North Adams, Mass., and Marie Garcia of St. Augustine, Fla.; three uncles, David Galinski (Godfather) of Newport News, Va., Richard Galinski of Phoenix, Ariz., William Galinski of Brunswick, Maine; and all his cousins whom he loved very much.



Funeral notice: There will be a private service held for Bradley J. Dorans on July 30, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main Street, North Adams.
