Theodore Underhill Jr., 88

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Theodore Edward Underhill Jr., 88, of Stearns Avenue died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center.



Born in Pittsfield on January 31, 1928, the son of Theodore E. Underhill Sr. and Eva Jenne Underhill, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served in the United States National Guard.



A mold maker by trade, Mr. Underhill first worked for Lakewood Mold, then for Tog Mold Tool & Die Company, where he was General Manager. He concluded his career at Hi-Tech Mold & Tool, Inc., where he worked part-time for twenty years before retiring at age 85.



Mr. Underhill had a passion for airplanes and had his pilot's license. He enjoyed carpentry and tinkering around the house and his gardens. He owned a Kawasaki Mule with a plow and would often be seen giving his neighbors a helping hand. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, NASCAR, and motorcycling.



Mr. Underhill leaves his wife, the former Annie Leighton, whom he married April 2, 1982; two daughters, Dianne Blake and her husband Edward of Pittsfield and Patricia Tornicelli and her partner Denise of Lenox; four sons, John Leighton of Pittsfield, Allan Underhill and his wife Carmella of Pittsfield, Theodore E. Underhill III and his wife Rose of Pittsfield, and James Underhill Sr. and his wife Angela of Pittsfield; a brother, Francis Tremblay and his wife Debby of Lanesborough; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his two sisters-in-law, Patricia Burke and Elizabeth Leighfield, both of Pittsfield; and a brother-in-law, Francis Fetridge and his wife Monica of Cheshire.



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Theodore E. Underhill Jr. will be private with burial to be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Dery Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
