Pamela A. Ancora, 74

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pamela A. Ancora, 74, of 62 Watson St. in Pittsfield, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Springside of Pittsfield.



Born on October 20, 1942, in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late John and Victoria Guisti DiCicco. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She then went on to receive her nursing degree from the Pittsfield Vocational Nursing Program in 1962. A licensed practical nurse for many years, she had worked at Berkshire Medical Center, Doyle Detox Center and the Visiting Nurse Association. She retired in 2003.



Pam was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a former communicant of All Souls Church and St. Agnes Church. She had served as the past president of the Taconic High School Booster Club for baseball, football and basketball. She enjoyed walking, bowling and square dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She and her husband were the recipients of the Good Citizens Award given by the City of Pittsfield for rescuing a woman from a burning building.



She leaves her husband, Michael V. Ancora of Pittsfield, whom she married on June 6, 1964, at the former All Souls Church; a son, Michael J. Ancora and his wife Stacy of Laconia, N.H.; three daughters, Jean Hynes and her husband Steve of Hopkinton, Mass., Michele Ancora and her companion Mark Weissman of Tampa, Fla., and Renee Ancora and her wife Shelby of Durham, N.C.; and eight grandchildren, Brendan Hynes, Meghan Hynes, Nicholas Hynes, Jack Ancora, Sarah Ancora, Isabella Ancora, Preston Ancora-Kennedy and Ian Ancora-Kennedy.



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Pamela A. Ancora, 74, of Pittsfield who passed away on January 20, 2017, will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 9:15 a.m. from the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. 



Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Pam may be made to Hospice of Western Mass in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
