Wilson Aponte

November 15, 2001

Wilson Aponte, 44, formerly of 36 Springside Ave., died Nov. 15 of lung cancer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, Conn.

Born in Pounce, Puerto Rico, on Jan. 17, 1957, son of Ruben Negron Aponte of Puerto Rico and Amelia Guzman of New York City, he attended schools in New York City. He moved to Pittsfield in 1984.

He served in the Marines in Vietnam.

Mr. Aponte was a self-employed carpenter.

He attended St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed cooking, singing and inventing things.

Besides his parents, he leaves two sons, Jason Aponte of Bronx, N.Y., and Jonathan Aponte Fox of Pittsfield; three daughters, Janelle Aponte of Manhattan, N.Y., and Cinnamin Aponte Fox and Miracle Aponte, both of Pittsfield, and a stepson, Nelson Romero of Pittsfield.
