Francis E. Palmer, 78, of North Port, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Nov. 22 at Pinebrook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Venice, Fla.
Born in Lee on June 28, 1923, son of Oren and Minnie Pratt Palmer, he attended Lee High School. He moved to North Port in 1996.
Mr. Palmer was a World War II Army veteran.
He was employed as a long-haul truck driver and before that had worked at the Pittsfield post office.
He was a member of American Legion Post 68 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 97.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ann.
He leaves a sister, Eleanor M. Anderson of North Port, and a brother, Dexter E. Palmer of Bradenton, Fla.
