Janet Mazur Filpi, 87

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  Janet Mae (Liebenow) Mazur Filpi, 87 of The Villages, Florida passed into her true home with Jesus on Wednesday February 5, 2025 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages.



She was born in Cummington, MA on February 17, 1937, a daughter of Roscoe William Liebenow and Evelyn Adele (Pratt) Liebenow Gould. She graduated from Pittsfield High School and studied at the Gemology Institute of California.



Janet worked with her late husband, Vincent Filpi in the operation of Borgo’s Bakery, Filpi Rare Coin Company and their real estate rental properties until his death in 1992.



She was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church. Janet also belonged to OA, believing sugar and wheat destroyed and aged the human body long before many others agreed with her. She became engaged to Richard Mosher in 1998, losing him to cancer in 2013.



Janet enjoyed roller skating, motorcycling, target shooting, dancing, fashion design, sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed walking a few miles every day. She was an animal lover and always had a dog.



Survivors include her brother, Frank Liebenow of Leesburg, FL and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her only beloved son, Joseph Franklin Mazur in 2013 and his father, Joseph Mazur in 2000. She was also predeceased by her sisters Beatrice Roy, Rita Bancroft and Joyce Gyles and her brothers, Charles Carl Liebenow and Roscoe W. Liebenow.



FUNERAL NOTICE: A private graveside service for Janet Filpi will be held in the spring at Village Cemetery in Cummington, MA. Memorial donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield, MA or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
