PITTSFIELD, Mass. —
Mrs. Stella C.J. (Wall) Coolbroth, 86, of Pittsfield, died Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025 at Springside of Pittsfield. She was born in Pittsfield on November 7, 1938, daughter of the late John and Stella (Kordana) Wall, and attended Pittsfield schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School. She went on to earn her degree from Bryant College. Stella worked as an administrator for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and as a systems administrator for Johnson Ford. Earlier, she had worked as a secretary in the Ordnance division of General Electric in Pittsfield. Stella was a member and past President of the Berkshire Hills Chapter of the National Secretaries Association International. She was an active 79-year member of the Polish Falcons, having become a member on Sept. 18, 1946 at the age of 8. She was a delegate to the National Conventions and taught polish dance to youth members. She received their Bronze Star of Merit in 1979, working up to the Gold Legion of Honor in 2012. She was one of the inaugural group to receive the Beyond the Gold Award presented at the National Convention on July 27, 2024.
Her husband, Stuart H. Coolbroth, whom she married on June 18, 1960, died on March 5, 1999.
She is survived by her grandson, Nicholas H. Coolbroth, her nephews, John Wall and Jason Wall, and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Stella D. Coolbroth, in 2012, her grandson, John Walter Coolbroth, and her brother, John J. Wall.
