Ethel Mae Hornyak, 85, of 43 Vivian Ave. died Sunday at the Center for Optimum Care, where she had resided for four years.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 31, 1915, daughter of Louis and Mabel Schaffer St. John, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Hornyak was employed by Berkshire Medical Center as a dietary aide for many years. She retired at the age of 65. Before that, she worked at the former Berkshire Woolen Mill.
She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church.
Her husband, Stephen Hornyak, whom she married May 5, 1936, in New Lebanon, N.Y., died May 27, 1991.
She leaves a son, Stephen J. Hornyak of Lenox; a daughter, Margaret A. Davies of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 11 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, by the Rev. Warren Scamman. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center for Optimum Care Activity Fund in care of the funeral home.
