John J. Vadala

John J. Vadala, 56, of 327 South St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 16, 1944, son of Joseph and Mary Pyrzanowski Vadala, he was a 1963 graduate of Pittsfield High School and took courses at several auto mechanics schools.
Mr. Vadala was a mechanic at Arace Datsun Mazda on West Housatonic Street for 15 years, retiring in 1995. Before that, he worked at several other auto dealerships.
He was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church. A big-game hunter, he took trips to Idaho, Montana and North Carolina. He also enjoyed fishing and traveled to Lake Champlain every year.
He leaves his fiancée, Marlene H. Elger, with whom he resided.
Survivors include his fiancée, Marlene H. Elger, with whom he shared his home; and his aunts, Rose Vadala of Pittsfield, Anne Berutich and Mary Mirabella, both of Venice, Fla. John will be missed dearly by several other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He also was predeceased by an uncle, Dominick A. Vadala, who died Feb. 2, 2001. The funeral will be Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Teresa's Church celebrated by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Teresa's Church through the funeral home
