Donald F. Nelligan, 80, of 218 Allengate Ave. died Saturday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Northampton on March 29, 1921, son of William J. and Grace Smith Nelligan, he came to Pittsfield in 1937 and was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Nelligan was employed with GE as a production clerk for 43 years. He retired in 1983.
A communicant of St. Mary's Church, he was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and played in the Eagles Band for several years. He enjoyed golf, driving, big band music and playing the trombone.
He leaves his wife, the former Jean Nesbit, whom he married June 4, 1949; a son, Timothy P. Nelligan Sr. of Pittsfield, a brother, John J. Nelligan of Pittsfield, and a grandson.
He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Bridget Nelligan, and grandson, Timothy P. Nelligan Jr., both of Pittsfield. A brother, William B. Nelligan, died Dec. 14, 1998. Calling hours will be this evening from 5 to 8 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
