Stephen Schreyack

Stephen J. Schreyack, 81, of 10 Union St. died Sunday at the Center for Optimum Care. He owned and operated the former Country Style Motel in Lanesboro from 1962 to 1975.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 24, 1919, son of Stephen F. and Katie Englert Schreyack, he attended Brooklyn and Bellport schools. He had wintered in Winter Haven, Fla., for 15 years.
He joined the Navy in February 1944 and was discharged in April 1946.
Mr. Schreyack was employed by Republic Aviation in Long Island, N.Y., for more than 20 years, and is credited with several inventions and patents. He moved to Pittsfield in 1962 and was employed as a draftsman/bill of material writer in the engineering department at Beloit for 15 years, retiring in 1981.
His wife, the former Marian F. Walter, whom he married July 7, 1945, died Feb. 16, 2000.
He leaves two daughters, Judith J. Nylic of Cheshire and Lynn S. Langdon of Plano, Texas; a sister, Anna Mae Mirabelli of Bellport, N.Y., and four grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no formal funeral scheduled. Burial will take place in Pittsfield Cemetery in the family lot. DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
