Peter N. Amandos

Peter Nick Amandos, 75, of 56 Maplewood Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 11, 1926, son of Nick and Lopa Giftos Amandos, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School. He also attended Bryant College in Rhode Island.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from April 21, 1944, until being honorably discharged on June 16, 1946. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Theater Medal.
Mr. Amandos was employed by General Electric Co. as an assembler for 20 years in the transformer department, retiring in 1981 due to ill health.
He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and the AHEPA Society at the church. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 68 of Pittsfield.
He leaves a brother, Menelaus "Manny" Amandos of Pittsfield; a sister, Argy P. Chafouleas of Albertson, N.Y., and a son, Nicholas P. Amandos of California.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by services at noon at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, with the Rev. Fr. Michael T. Stearns, presbyter, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in care of the funeral home.
