Caroline I. Stottle

Caroline I. Stottle, 89, formerly of Rose Manor Apartments, died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where she had resided since November 1996. Prior to living in Pittsfield, she has resided in Windsor and Dalton.

Born in Long Island, N.Y., on Oct. 13, 1911, daughter of George and Elizabeth Spencer Mitchell, she attended schools there.

She was employed as a machine operator for A.H. Rice Silk Mill in Pittsfield for five years, retiring in 1960. At one time, she had worked for Col. Arthur D. Budd estate in Windsor, which is now Notchview Reservation.

Mrs. Stottle was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and enjoyed arts and crafts.

Her husband, Ellis H. Stottle, whom she married Sept. 15, 1930, died Oct. 28, 1990.

She leaves a son, Franklin G. Stottle of Pittsfield; a daughter, Phyllis Squires of Golden, Colo.; a brother, Frederick Mitchell of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Ivy Suriner of Dalton; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11:30 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. William D. Furey, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Friday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders or to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, both in care of the Dery Funeral Home. She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Morgan A. Stottle, on March 25, 1996.
