Helen L. Sharkey

Helen L. Sharkey, 81, of 67 Sea St., Hyannis, formerly of Pittsfield, died yesterday at Pavilion Rehabilitation Nursing Care Center in Hyannis.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 11, 1919, daughter of Michael L. and Grace A. Dooley Foley, she was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She also graduated from Berkshire Business College. She had resided in Acton for three years before moving to Hyannis in 1983.
Mrs. Sharkey was employed by the Berkshire Middle District Registry of Deeds for 27 years, retiring in 1979 as head administrative clerk.
While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a longtime volunteer at the Berkshire Medical Center gift shop.
Her husband, James F. Sharkey, whom she married in 1945, died in 1959.
She leaves a daughter, Christine S. Bell of East Sandwich; a sister, G. Elizabeth Foley, with whom she resided; a brother, John S. Foley of Lenox, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:15 from WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
