Anita Paolillo, 95, of Chicopee died early Friday at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.
She was the mother of Leonard Paolillo of Pittsfield.
Born in Westfield on July 26, 1910, daughter of Giacomo and Virginia Ginesi Tonelli, she graduated from Westfield High School.
She resided in West Springfield for 30 years, Antioch and Fresno, Calif., for 12 years, and Springfield for 25 years.
Mrs. Paolillo worked for the Hampden County Clerk of Courts as a secretary for 10 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer at the Wesson unit at Baystate Medical Center. She enjoyed reading. A parakeet, Anna Blue, was named for her at The Arbors of Chicopee, an assisted living facility, in honor of her love of birds.
She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Frank Paolillo, in 1965. They were married in 1933.
Besides her son, she leaves a daughter, Virginia M. Lawlor of Springfield; a brother, Robert Tonelli of West Springfield; six grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Isabel McCarthy.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anita Paolillo, who died May 26, 2006, will be held Thursday, June 1, at 8:45 a.m. at SAMPSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ACRES FUNERAL HOME, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Parker Street, Springfield. Rites of committal to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, State Street, Springfield.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are tonight from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PAN-CAN, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245. Grandchildren include Lisa Paolillo Mahoney, Michelle Paolillo Passios, and Kevin Paolillo, all formerly of Pittsfield.
